Dr. Sun Yat-sen - Father of Modern China
October 2011 will be the 100th observation of the birth of the Modern China.
China, and the world will celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Chinese Revolution, an occasion that marks the overthrow of imperial rule.
"The anniversary will be a particularly interesting one to watch because of the fact that 1911 is the only pivotal year in modern Chinese history that has similar meaning to people in Taiwan and on the mainland," said Professor Wasserstrom. "It symbolizes a positive move forward for both -- just as Sun Yat Sen is the only political leader of the past revered on both sides of the straits."
